The clients wished to extend their existing end of terraced property and create a new kitchen, dining, family room that was warm (the existing house was freezing!) and had a better connection with the garden. The ground level at the rear of the property fell away resulting in the garden being about 2m lower than the existing kitchen. We put together a contemporary design that stepped through the spaces taking you down to the garden, resulting in a light and airy space that provided a well-designed link between the garden and the main house. This contemporary extension received lots of comments at the planning stage, sitting within the historic Bollington conservation area, but was supported by the conservation officers and planners.
